Sunday 30th Oct : Mt. Leinster

Due to a large contingent having decamped to Kerry for the weekend, there was a smaller than usual turnout for the Mt. Leinster walk on Sunday 30th October. Visibility was poor and the rain decided to come just at lunchtime as photo below may show!

Word from Kerry is that Saturday’s trek ¬†was a marathon 12 hour transverse of the MacGillycuddy’s Reeks followed by a shorter 5 hour walk on Sunday !

National Trails Day / Intro walk / Sun Oct 2nd.

Terrific turnout for the intro walk on Sun. Weather was a little challenging but all newcomers coped extremely well and completed routes with glowing complexions!! Well done to all and great credit is due to all club leaders who helped out on the day.
The walkers were lucky to hear some input from Andrew who lives in Shannon’s House on, firstly the bombing of the house in 1941 and subsequent rebuilding funded by the Germans and secondly on the recently discovered Neolithic stone on his farm.
