The club walk in the Comeraghs took place on Sunday in bracing (wind and hail!) conditions led by Jane and Peter. The major obstacle of the day was trying to ford the swollen Mahon River at the conclusion of the walk : in the end there was no alternative to getting feet wet but the cars were close by ! However, all agreed it was a great walk rewarded by some great views (between the showers) and glowing cheeks!
Despite starting at nearly opposite ends of Mt. Leinster, the “moderate” and “easy” groups’ paths crossed on the track above “Stony Top”! An exceptionally calm day was emphasised by the snowy conditions underfoot and the thick mist !
Photo below shows the easy group ascending from the Cranagh side – both groups included Knockroe in their itineraries!
