Trip to Picos de Europa, Northern Spain

A club trip to the Picos has just returned after a very enjoyable six days walking in fabulous weather with spectacular views of different areas of the southern Picos. The holiday was conceived by committee member , Barry Dolan back in the dark days of winter and resulted in a group of 14 signing up for the trip.

Base was near the pretty town of Potes which meant there was little travel time required to get to the walks. The most spectacular walk of the week , all would agree, was the Cares Gorge but the other walks revealed some of the other beautiful panoramas of this justifiably famed walking area

What a superb day on Sunday at Dalkey for club members on their first visit there and their first lead climbs!
Ten club members travelled and enjoyed a full day on the rock with the quarry being relatively quiet.
Here’s hoping that the experience will be the start of expanding the skills set of some of those who are new to climbing.
Remember that Tues sessions continue at Rocklands.
